Custom and Consulting at the Center for Executive Leadership (FEI)
Programs to Help You Develop Leaders, Plan, and Perform at Maximum Effectiveness

Designed Specifically for You and Your Team

A new budget means drastic changes in your organization's financial picture. An additional mission is assigned to your staff. A reorganization means integrating people and functions under new leadership.

As a Federal executive, you deal with lots of changes. But one thing is constant: Your organization must deliver measurable results that meet the needs of the citizens you serve. It's up to you to find the best way to lead your people to success — even if the roadmap keeps changing.

Fortunately, you are not alone. FEI's Center for Executive Leadership (CEL) works with leaders from across the government. The object: Helping you and your organization achieve excellence in performance.

CEL works with you to design development programs to meet your present and future needs. The innovative approaches we jointly choose help client agencies meet immediate challenges, focus on the future, and successfully change in the face of changing circumstances.

CEL can help you with:

  • Team Development Programs to help your associates work more effectively — especially when team members are separated by organizational or geographic barriers;
  • Facilitated Planning Programs to help your organization face major changes in mission, budget, or technology; or to address strategic planning, performance improvement, or other critical issues;
  • Consulting Activities to build your staff's capacity for organizational improvement;
  • Organizational Assessments to help you understand your staff's needs and align its members for success; and
  • Long-term Executive Development Partnerships to give key personnel the tools they need to be successful at the highest levels of your organization.

CEL successfully draws on the expertise of highly skilled and experienced faculty members for delivery of these programs. Trained at leading graduate schools in disciplines including political science, education, psychology, and economics, our faculty members have built careers leading government and private organizations. Their current roles as teachers and consultants keep them up to date on the hottest issues facing government agencies. As CEL faculty, they are in continuous contact with leaders from throughout the government — leaders who are in the forefront of innovation.

Contact us to begin the process of developing a CEL Custom Program for your organization. One of our faculty members will discuss your needs with you. Then the focus is developing the approach that works best for you and your organization.

Our staff will develop a budget for your program and work with you on the reimbursement vehicle (Training Form, Memorandum of Agreement, or other) that is most efficient for you. Our status as a Federal agency allows us to handle procurement issues on a government-to-government basis.

Then we will focus on delivering the program in a way that maintains our high standards of quality and meets your needs. Evaluation to help us learn where we have been successful and how we can improve completes the process.

Our approach to providing Custom Services enables us to develop longstanding relationships with a wide variety of organizations. We have provided programs over several years for such agencies as the:

  • Bureau of Land Management;
  • U.S. Army Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management; and
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency.

FEI faculty members work in conjunction with senior agency leaders to develop long-term and wide-ranging Strategic Partnerships for organizational improvement. Partnerships help key staff members articulate common principles of leadership. Program participants focus on developing competencies they can use to bring leadership principles to life across their organization. Partnerships feature combinations of the approaches offered here and long-term plans for organizational improvement. Current partners include:

  • National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration;
  • U.S. Agency for International Development; and
  • U.S. Department of the Treasury.
