Foreign Relations, 1952-1954, Volume IV, American Republics (Guatemala Compilation)
Released by the Office of the Historian

Prefatory Note

The 112 documents in this collection comprise the Guatemala compilation from Foreign Relations, 1952-1954, volume IV, American Republics, published in 1983 without reference to the covert operation that resulted in the overthrow of the government of Jacobo Arbenz.  This collection should be used in conjunction with the retrospective volume Foreign Relations, 1962-1954, Guatemala.  Together these two volumes document the complete account of U.S. policy toward Guatemala during the early years of the cold war.
