American Citizen Services

The U.S. Embassy in New Delhi and the U.S. Consulates General in Kolkata (Calcutta), Mumbai (Bombay), and Chennai (Madras) provide a variety of services, both routine and emergency, for American citizens. Each section maintains its own hours.

American Citizens Services to Expand Hours

To better serve those in North India, the American Embassy in New Delhi announces expanded hours for routine consular services (U. S. passport renewals, notarizations, social security issues, etc.).

The American Citizens Services Office will now be open from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on any working day.

This change does not affect the provision of emergency services, which will continue to be provided at other times whenever necessary.

American citizens facing a life or death emergency may contact the Embassy twenty-four hours a day. When dialing from the U.S., first dial the digits in parentheses.
