New U.S. Passport Requirement

All Minors Must Appear in Person

On March 31, 2004, the American Citizen Services section of the U.S. Embassy Singapore, and all other U.S. Embassies and Consulates overseas, will begin requiring the personal appearance of all minors applying for U.S. passports. This new requirement is being implemented to enhance the accurate identification of applicants and aid in the prevention of international child abduction and substitution.

Separate parental relationship documentation and consent requirements continue for children under age 14. For additional information about passport application requirements, please visit travel.state.gov.

American Citizen Services Now Accepting Credit Cards For Payment

Thanks to a systems upgrade, the US Embassy’s American Citizen Services section is now able to accept credit card payments. Acceptable credit cards are Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diner’s Club and Discover. Singapore NETS cards are not accepted.

All ACS services (including new passports and document notarizations) can be paid for by credit card. However, please note credit cards are not accepted by the Embassy for Immigrant or Non-Immigrant Visa fees; only US dollar or Singapore dollar payments in cash are accepted.
