Consular Section, In Brief

The Consular Section provides a variety of services for American citizens and citizens of Syria and Lebanon. There are three departments within the section:

1. The American Citizens Services unit assists with passport renewal or replacement, registration of Americans residing in or visiting Syria, birth reports for children of American citizens born in Syria, voter registration, distribution of income tax forms, notarial services, and provides emergency services to American citizens.

2. The Immigrant Visa unit processes visas for people wishing to immigrate to the United States.

3. The Nonimmigrant Visa unit processes applications for temporary visas to the United States including tourist visas, business visas, student visas, and temporary work permits.
