Ambassador Garza expresses appreciation for solidarity in Mexico on 9/11 Anniversary

Mexico, City, September 11, 2004 -- U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, Antonio O. Garza, Jr., issued the following statement today on the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States:

“President Bush has designated today, September 11, as Patriot Day in honor of the more than 3,000 innocent people who lost their lives in the ruthless terrorist attack of three years ago. In marking this day, President Bush said, ‘Three years after the attack on our country, Americans remain strong and resolute in a just cause, and confident of the victory to come.’”

Ambassador Garza went on to say, “I want to thank our friends here in Mexico who are thinking about us today. We appreciate your warmth and solidarity. And we join Americans all across the country, as well as the people from a number of nations, in remembering the victims of September 11 and their families.”
