Selected Information Management (IM) and Information Technology (IT) Programs and IT Policies

IM and IT Programs

Central Data Exchange (CDX): enables fast, efficient and more accurate environmental data submissions from state and local governments, industry and tribes to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and participating program offices.

Environmental Data Registry (EDR): a comprehensive, authoritative reference for information about the definition, source, and uses of environmental data. The EDR supports the creation and implementation of data standards that are designed to promote the efficient sharing of environmental information; EDR does not contain environmental data - it provides descriptive information to make the data more meaningful.

Facility Registry System (FRS): a centrally managed database that identifies facilities, sites or places subject to environmental regulations or of environmental interest; provides Internet access to a single integrated source of comprehensive (air, water, and waste) environmental information about facilities, sites or places.

Good Automated Laboratory Practices (GALP) (PDF 1165KB, 167pgs): Principles and Guidance to Regulations For Ensuring Data Integrity In Automated Laboratory Operations with Implementation Guidance (1995 Edition)

Geospatial (PDF 418KB, 42pgs): EPA’s Geospatial Blueprint presents a vision and strategy for utilizing geospatial data and technologies as effectively as possible across the Agency.
