National Public Water Systems Compliance Report

This page displays a series of EPA reports about drinking water violations at American's public water system (PWS) beginning in calendar year 1996. Each report also summarizes the annual report prepared by each State about drinking water violations at PWSs within its jurisdiction. Each report also discusses the violations at public water systems on Indian reservations; EPA's enforcement and compliance assistance activities with respect to Tribal PWSs; and the financial assistance EPA has provided to facilitate the provision of safe drinking water to Tribes.

A separate of the 1997 report provides an update of EPA's efforts to implement the Safe Drinking Water Act Amendments of 1996.

The target audiences for the report are State and EPA drinking water regulators and environmental professionals, although anyone interested in a summary of public water system compliance may find the report useful.
