Objective:
To maintain a leadership role in international agricultural research activities for increased food security and economic growth. Support USAID sponsored agricultural development at the household, community, national and international levels. Goals include reduced levels of hunger and poverty, and conserved and enhanced natural resource base.

Approach:
Support technical positions which oversee USAID activities in agricultural development, food security, and sustainable natural resource management. Areas emphasized are soil resource management, plant biotechnology, food security, plant physiology, and integrated pest management. Technical assessments, project evaluations, project design and research studies will be conducted. Efforts will focus on collaborative research, strategic planning, impact monitoring and increasing engagement of appropriate institutions in both the public and private sectors.
