SUBJECT: NATO EXPANSION: REVISION OF 9 FAM 41.25

1. 9 FAM 41.25 Nl.l has been modified to include Poland. Poland became eligible for NATO visas in 1999 but was inadvertently left off the following list.

2. 9 FAM 41.25 Nl.l now reads:

Parties to North Atlantic Treaty and Agreement on Status of NATO, National Representatives and International Staff.

The following countries are currently parties to the North Atlantic Treaty signed in Washington on April 4, 1949 and also have ratified the Agreement on the Status of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, National Representatives and International Staff:

Belgium

Canada

Czech Republic

Denmark

France

Germany

Greece

Hungary

Iceland

Italy

Luxembourg

Netherlands

Norway

Poland

Portugal

Spain

Turkey

United Kingdom

United States

3. No other sections of 9 FAM 41.25 have been changed.

4. Although Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia officially joined NATO on March 29, 2004, they have not yet become parties to the Agreement on the Status of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, National Representatives and International Staff and are therefore currently ineligible for NATO visas. All are expected to become parties to the Agreement in the future.
