The powerful IDEA engine has three different interfaces available
to users. These interfaces include:
- The IDEA Mainframe:Users can transform their
personal PCs into a mainframe terminal and run queries against
the IDEA mainframe from their work stations.
- The Online Targeting Information System (OTIS):
EPA, federal, and state users may access OTIS by using their
browsers. OTIS uses IDEA as its back-end database, and provides
users with the means to query IDEA online. (available only
to EPA, federal, and state users)
- Enforcement and Compliance History Online (ECHO) is
a Web-based took that provides public users with compliance,
permits, and demographic data for approximately 800,000 facilities
regulated under the Clean Air Act stationary source program,
the Clean Water Act direct discharge program, and the Resource
Conservation and Recovery Act hazardous waste generation program.
