Magnetic Materials Group

Welcome to the Magnetic Materials Group Web Server!

The Magnetic Materials Group is part of the Metallurgy Division of the Materials Science and Engineering Laboratory at NIST. (General information and visitor information is available.) We study advanced magnetic and super-conducting materials to characterize their properties and performance, and to promote their economical processing and efficient use. The group's mission is to (1) provide the nation with the magnetic measurement methods, standards, and data required for the understanding and control of processing, structure, properties, and performance of magnetic materials, and to (2) assist industry in the development of technology needed to improve quality, modernize manufacturing processes, and facilitate commercialization of advanced magnetic materials.
