11/8/2004 - SAN ANTONIO (AFPN) -- Air Force operation of the large medical facility at Balad Air Base, Iraq, spotlights the Nov. 8 edition of Air Force Television News. Tech. Sgt. Joy Josephson spent a week at the hospital, chronicling the treatment of wounded servicemembers by Air Force medics. Tech. Sgt. Bill Scherer also reports from the hospital on the medical evacuation operations there for patients requiring more extensive treatment.

Staff Sgt. Melissa Allan is on hand as Air Force Secretary Dr. James G. Roche and Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. John P. Jumper get an up close and personal look at the Marine Corps version of the CV-22. The Osprey is a tilt-rotor aircraft that will be used by Air Force Special Operations Command Airmen as an eventual replacement for its MH-53 Pave Low helicopters.

Tech. Sgt. Pachari Lutke travels to Wyoming to report on Airmen manning the Peacekeeper missile alert facilities.

Staff Sgt. Kevin Nichols reports on the Saber Drill Team at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. Sergeant Allan also covers an unusual, but highly effective physical fitness program at Hanscom AFB, Mass.

Staff Sgt. John Anderson goes to Langley AFB, Va., to show how the base’s firefighters assist the Coast Guard in water rescues.

Finally, Staff Sgt. Mike Tateishi talks with women at Cannon AFB, N.M., who spent much of their spare time making quilts as remembrances for family members who have lost relatives in Iraq.
