The Fish
and Wildlife Service in the Department of the Interior and the NOAA
Fisheries Service in the Department of Commerce share responsibility
for administration of the Endangered
Species Act. Look below to learn more about internal guidance and
national policies that we have issued to promote efficiency and nationwide
consistency in implementing the ESA to protect and recover listed species
of plants and animals native to the United States and its territories.
Please see our International
Agreements page for information on policies and programs that work
to protect and recover species in other countries.
