D.C. Area Operating Status Affecting DOI Employees

This page provides emergency information pertaining to DOI employees in the D.C. area.
Current Operational Status Affecting D.C. Area DOI Employees
D.C. Area Operating Status is NORMAL.

Employees are reminded that there are three sources of information for DOI Operating Status:

  • Local Media
  • DOI Website (www.doi.gov) emergency status link "DOI DC Operating Status"
  • DOI emergency information phone number at (202) 208-6606
Check with the Office Of Personnel Management (OPM) on the D.C. area Federal Government Operating Status.
Elevated Condition (Yellow). An Elevated Condition is declared when there is a significant risk of terrorist attacks. In addition to the Protective Measures taken in the previous Threat Conditions, Federal departments and agencies should consider the following general measures in addition to the Protective Measures that they will develop and implement:
  • Increasing surveillance of critical locations;
  • Coordinating emergency plans as appropriate with nearby jurisdictions;
  • Assessing whether the precise characteristics of the threat require the further refinement of preplanned Protective Measures; and
  • Implementing, as appropriate, contingency and emergency response plans.
