Multi-Hazard Mapping
HazardMaps.GOV is FEMA's
site for public access to online hazard advisory maps of various types,
including earthquake, hurricane, and flood. The site is a product
of the Federal Insurance and Mitigation Administration's
Multihazard Mapping Initiative. Through
this initiative, FEMA seeks to improve public awareness and hazard
mitigation planning. In addition to supplying multihazard maps, this
initiative is exploring cutting-edge techniques to assemble maps on
demand from a variety of online data sources.
The site includes a Data Exchange in which map data can be uploaded
or downloaded to foster the exchange and collection of geospatial
hazards information. |

Disaster Mapping and Analysis
Center
The Mapping and Analysis
Center (MAC) provides national level Geographic Information System
(GIS) support and coordination for FEMA. GIS mapping products and
data are available for the latest disasters, along with current and
prior year disasters. |

Flood Hazard Mapping
The Mitigation Directorate's
Flood Hazard Mapping Technical Services Division maintains and updates
the National Flood Insurance Program maps. Flood maps are tell us
where the flood risks are based on local hydrology, topology, precipitation,
flood protection measures such as levees, and other scientific data. |

Map Service Center
The Map Service Center (MSC) distributes National Flood Insurance
Program (NFIP) products including: Digital Flood Insurance Rate Maps
(DFIRM), Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM), Flood Insurance Studies
(FIS), Digital Q3 flood data, Community Status Book, Flood Map Status
Information Service (FMSIS), and Letters of Map Change (LOMC). Currently,
businesses are able to purchase all these products on-line at the
FEMA Flood Map Store. |
