Oct. 19, 2004Mrs. Laura Bush today presented Kathleen Cochrane Kean of Glendale, Wisconsin, the first national "Preserve America History Teacher of the Year" Award during a ceremony held at the New-York Historical Society in New York City. Kean was recognized for her creativity, enthusiasm, and dedication to teaching children history. ACHP Chairman John L. Nau and Vice Chairman Bernadette Castro’s participated in the ceremony.
