Treatment Technologies
Treatment Technologies subtopics Alphabetical List of All Topics

Through its labs and other research facilities, the EPA develops and implements innovative technologies for the characterization and treatment of contaminated waste sites, soils, groundwater and air pollution. These technologies are used in oil spills, Superfund sites, Brownfields programs and other areas polluted by hazardous waste. EPA has encouraged and relied on cooperative ventures with other partners, including the private sector and academia to enhance remediation technologies and develop more effective, less costly approaches. Examples of treatment technologies currently being used by the EPA are in-situ groundwater bioremediation, multi-phase extraction, soil venting, soil vapor extraction and air sparging.
