State, tribal, and local government laboratories may obtain analytical methods for detecting certain pesticide residues, whether in food, feed, water, soil, technical standards or registered products, from EPA's Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) Analytical and Environmental Chemistry Laboratories. OPP's Microbiology Laboratory provides Standard Operating Procedures related to the testing of antimicrobial products against three organisms - Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Mycobacterium bovis BCG.

Pesticide manufacturers are required to develop and submit analytical methods for their pesticide products to support the case for registration of their products under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act. Data requirements are described in the Code of Federal Regulations.(40 CFR 158). Exit EPA disclaimer
