FACA - Federal Advisory Committee Act - Ozone, Particulate Matter, Regional Haze

A committee under the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA) was formed by EPA to obtain advice and recommendations on integrated approaches for implementing any reised national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS) for ozone and particulate matter, as well as a new regional haze program. The Committee for Development of Ozone, Particulate Matter and Regional Haze Implementation Programs, consisted of 58 members and included a balanced representation from State and local agencies, tribal organizations, environmental groups, industry, lawyers/consultants, scientific/academic institutions and other federal agencies. The committee met every 2-3 months to provide guidance on various implementation strategies. The committee established a number of work groups to ensure that the output of the various work groups within the committee were coordinated and support was provided to the entire project.
