 Foundations and Private Organizations
These are usually groups that support and promote activities related to a specific goal such as improving care for children. Activities can include the funding of research and providing information related to a specific topic such as the developmental needs of children. 
 
Board on Children, Youth, and Families at Institute of Medicine BOCYF
The Board on Children, Youth, and Families addresses policy-relevant issues related to the health and development of children and families by convening experts to weigh in on matters from the point of view of the social, behavioral, and health sciences. 
The Center for Child Well-being 
The Center focuses on nurturing strengths in children that contribute to their health and well-being, including physical health, growth of the mind, and social and emotional development.  The website includes parenting forums, and resources for parents and community members.  
Commonwealth Fund
The Commonwealth Fund is a private foundation that supports independent research on health & social issues. This foundation also makes grants to improve health care practice & policy.
Enfamil (Mead Johnson and Company)
Enfamil provides parenting guides, answers to frequently asked parenting questions, safety tips, and parent quizzes.  It also allows the user to sign up to receive personalized parenting tips according to the age of the child.  
Family Voices
Family Voices is a national, grassroots organization that serves as a clearinghouse for information and education concerning the health care of children with special health needs.  The website includes links to resources and information on advocacy.  
First Signs
First Signs is a national non-profit organization dedicated to educating parents and physicians about the early warning signs of autism and other developmental disorders.  The site offers information on screening, development, referral, treatment, and resources for parents. 
IDEA Infant and Toddler Coordinators Association 
Organizational activities  of this association include promoting the exchange of information in the administration of the IDEA Infant and Toddler Program, providing support to state coordinators, increasing awareness among decision-makers of the needs of children and their families, and providing leadership to help meet the developmental needs of infants & toddlers. 
National Association for Child Development NACD
An international organization of parents and professionals dedicated to helping children and adults reach their full potential through the use of innovative techniques and research.  The site offers information on the program, information on joining, and publications and resources.  
National Association for the Education of Young Children NAEYC
The nation's largest and most influential organization of early childhood educators and others dedicated to improving the quality of programs for children from birth through third grade.  The site can locate accredited programs by zipcode.  
Zero to Three
ZERO TO THREE's mission is to promote the healthy development of our nation's infants and toddlers by supporting and strengthening families, communities, and those who work on their behalf.  The site includes resources for parents and professionals.    
 
Federal 
Agencies and organizations listed as “Federal” include those that are associated with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Department of Education, or another government agency. These agencies and organizations provide a range of information related to the early identification of children who might benefit from early intervention and education services, statistics about America’s health, assessing development, legislation, and improving outcomes for people with disabilities.  
 
Administration for Children and Families  ACF
ACF is a federal agency that funds state, territory, local, and tribal organizations to provide family assistance (welfare), child support, child care, Head Start, child welfare, and other programs relating to children and families. 
Agency for Health Care Research (Child Health Toolbox) AHRQ
Measures health care performance in child health programs
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services  CMS
CMS is the federal agency that works to assure health care security for recipients of programs such as Medicare and Medicaid. 
Child Find (component of IDEA)
Child Find is apart of IDEA and provides information related to the early identification of young children and their families who may benefit from early intervention or education services. 
Department of Education  DOE
The DOE provides information related to early childhood education and assessing development in children
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act  IDEA
The National Early Childhood Technical Assistance Center website provides the full text  of the IDEA legislation and other related information.
Maternal and Child Health Bureau  MCHB
MCHB focuses on maternal and child health and is responsible for Title V of the Social Security Act. Title V is a Federal block grant program that is responsible for ensuring the health of all mothers, infants, children, adolescents, and children with special health care needs.
National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities  NCBDDD
NCBDDD is apart of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and promotes the health of babies, children, and adults, to enhance the potential for full, productive living.
National Center for Health Statistics  NCHS
NCHS is the principal U.S. health statistics agency and compiles statistical information to guide actions and policies to improve the health of people.
NCHS State and Local Area Integrated Telephone Survey   SLAITS
SLAITS provides in-depth State and local area data that can be used to help meet various program and policy needs. 
Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services   OSERS
OSERS is apart of the U.S. Department of Education and is committed to improving results and outcomes for people with disabilities of all ages.
State Children's Health Insurance Program  SCHIP
SCHIP is a program that was created by the Balanced Budget Act of 1997 and enables States to initiate and expand health insurance coverage for uninsured children.
 
Professional 
Professional organizations are those that represent a certain profession or area of research. The members of these organizations are usually involved in the given profession or area of research. The organizations listed under the Professional category include those that represent nurses, pediatricians, and child development research.
 
American Academy of Pediatrics  AAP
The mission of the American Academy of Pediatrics is to attain optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.   The site lists resources including books and articles, and provides articles on current topics.  
American Academy of Family Physicians 
The AAFP is an organization that represents family physicians, family practice residents and medical students and is dedicated to preserving and promoting the science and art of family medicine and to ensure high-quality, cost-effective health care for patients.
National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners  NAPNAP
NAPNAP is a non-profit nursing organization that is devoted to improving the quality of infant and child health care.
Society for Research on Child Development  SRCD
The purposes of SRCD are to promote multidisciplinary research in the field of human development, to foster the exchange of information among scientists and other professionals of various disciplines, and to encourage applications of research findings.  The site includes resources, and information on conferences.

Assuring Better Child Health and Development Program  ABCD Program
The ABCD program is a part of the Commonwealth Fund and emphasizes new opportunities to expand child development services through Medicaid, the state Children’s Health Insurance Program, and community health centers.
Bright Futures  BF
A national initiative to promote and improve the health and well-being of infants, children, and adolescents.  The site includes publications, training tools, and distance learning materials.

Healthy Steps for Young Children Program
The Healthy Steps program is a national initiative that focuses on the importance of the first three years of life and is connected to health care practices. The Healthy Steps approach emphasizes a close relationship between mothers, fathers, and health care professionals in addressing the physical, emotional, and intellectual growth and development of children from birth to age three. 
Title V
Title V of the the Social Security Act includes the Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant, which is dedicated to improving the health of all mothers and children (Adobe pdf format).     
Tracking, Referral, and Assessment Center for Excellence  TRACE
This project, funded through the Office of Special Education Programs, will establish a center to identify and promote the use of scientifically based models and practices for early identification, child find, and referral for infants and children with disabilities and their families who are eligible for Part C early intervention and Part B early childhood special education programs. 
 
Developmental Screening Research
This section provides information about research efforts on or related to developmental screening.
 
American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), Periodic Survey of Fellows
The AAP Periodic Survey of Fellows is a questionnaire that is mailed to a random sample of approximately 1600 Academy fellows. The survey is intended to gather information about issues of interest to the AAP and is used for informing policy, developing new initiatives, or modifying or evaluating existing projects. 
Annual Early Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment Report  EPSDT Report 
The EPSDT service is Medicaid's comprehensive and preventive child health program for individuals under the age of 21. EPSDT includes periodic screening, vision, dental, and hearing services.
National Survey of Early Childhood Health   NSECH
The NSECH provides national baseline data on pediatric care (and its impact) from the parent’s perspective. Survey questions focus on the delivery of pediatric care to families with children under 3 years-of-age and the promotion of young children’s health by families in their homes.
Promoting Healthy Development Survey  PHDS-PLUS
PHDS-PLUS, by the Foundation for Accountability, seeks to measure how well pediatric clinicians provide child development health care services through interviewing parents of children aged 4 and under.  
California Children and Families Commission
The California Children and Families Act of 1998 is designed to provide, on a community-by-community basis, all children prenatal to five years-of-age with a comprehensive, integrated system of early childhood development services.  The site offers links to current articles and focuses on current state legislation.  
The Whole Child
