Instructions

The standard National Park Service cartographic symbols are presented in Adobe Illustrator and Acrobat PDF formats. Choose a format compatible with your computer, software applications, and printer.

Downloading Map Symbols

The Adobe Illustrator and PDF are usable by both Mac and PC users.

Downloading Patterns and Textures

These patterns fill closed polygon areas in Adobe Illustrator as seamless tiles. These files are self-extracting archives in BinHex binary format. Both Mac and PC users must install Stuffit Expander freeware to decode BinHex data. Help with Aladdin Stuffit »

Non-releasable commercial patterns are used for other patterns and textures found on NPS map products.
