ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE ADVISORY
COUNCIL TO MEET DEC. 11-14

EPA’s National Environmental Justice Advisory Council (NEJAC) meeting will be held Dec. 11-14 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City Hotel in Arlington, Va. The NEJAC is a federal advisory committee that provides advice, consultation and recommendations to EPA’s Administrator on matters relating to environmental justice. The NEJAC has seven subcommittees that focuses on issues including: air and water; health and research; indigenous people; international issues; and waste and facility siting. The main focus of the meeting will be the progress EPA has made towards integrating environmental justice into its policies, programs and activities. The Agency has been working on ways to incorporate environmental justice into existing environmental laws and also implementing goals outlined in Executive Order 12898, “Federal Actions to Address Environmental Justice in Minority Populations and Low-Income Populations.” A copy of the agenda can be obtained at: http://www.epa.gov/oeca/main/ej/nejac/conf_ne.html .
