Continuing Resolution—On September 30, 2004 the President signed into law H.J.Res. 107, a continuing resolution providing government-wide funding at the FY 2004 level until November 20, or the enactment of regular appropriations, whichever occurs first.
Congressional Action—On September 9, 2004, the House passed H.R. 5006, the FY 2005 Labor/HHS/Education appropriations bill, and on September 15, 2004, the Senate Appropriations Committee reported its version of the bill. Congressional Action—On January 23, 2004, President Bush signed
Public Law 108-199, the "Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2004". This omnibus act includes FY 2004 appropriations for Labor-HHS-Education. A detailed table (last updated 02/19/2004) showing the amounts for the Education Department is available in PDF [75KB] and EXCEL [368KB].The discretionary amounts shown on the table for FY 2004 reflect the across-the-board reduction of 0.59 percent included in the law as well as Education's share of a $50 million reduction in administrative and related expenses to be allocated among the Departments of Labor, HHS, and Education. This table also shows House and Senate floor action, the President's Request, and FY 2003 enacted appropriations (including supplemental appropriations).
