FALSE CLAIMS LEAD TO TWO-YEAR PROBATION FROM OHIO MAN

On Sept. 27, Richard Henry of Mayfield Heights, Ohio, was sentenced to two years probation, 300 hours of community service and was required to undergo drug abuse treatment for marijuana consumption as a result of his federal felony conviction on one count of violating Title 18 of the United States Code Section 1001which involved submitting a false claim to EPA. Henry falsely claimed that the degreasing agent "Borothene," which contains the chemical chlorobromomethane as its main ingredient, would produce significantly less damage to the Earth's ozone layer than many solvents which are being phased out under the Clean Air Act. This case was investigated by EPA's Criminal Investigation Division.
