PA ELECTROPLATING COMPANY AND CEO INDICTED

ELECTROPLATING COMPANY AND CEO INDICTED

On Oct. 17, Frey Manufacturing Co. Inc. and its owner James Scalise, both of New Haven, Conn., were indicted by a federal grand jury in New Haven on four felony counts alleging violations of the Clean Water Act (CWA). The charges arose from the illegal discharge of wastewater containing high levels of acids and cyanide into the New Britain, Conn., public sewer system and one felony count of making a false statement to the federal government. The case was investigated by EPA's Criminal Investigation Division.
