EPA SPONSORS CONFERENCE ON EXPANDING
MARKETS FOR ENERGY-EFFICIENT PRODUCTS

EPA is hosting a Washington conference next week showcasing products that lower energy bills for homes and businesses and prevent air pollution and global warming gas emissions from the burning of fossil fuels. Keynoting the conference will be Eileen Claussen, Assistant Secretary of State for Environment and Development, and several new Energy Star programs will be announced, including ENERGY STAR Insulation and ENERGY STAR Exit signs. Mary Nichols, EPA Assistant Administrator for Air and Radiation, also a speaker, will discuss the link between energy efficiency and environmental protection. The conference, called "Tomorrow's Opportunities Today," will take place Monday, June 3 -- Tuesday, June 4, at the Washington Marriott, 1221 22nd St, N.W. The forum will enable industry and other participants to learn about energy efficiency partnership programs; joining nationwide marketing campaigns; receiving public recognition for environmental responsibility; and reducing costs of energy use. EPA will also present Partner of the Year awards for outstanding environmental leadership. For further information contact Betsy Agle at 202-233-9046.
