EPA PARTICIPATES IN INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC PARTICIPATION CONFERENCE

EPA PARTICIPATES IN INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC PARTICIPATION CONFERENCE


From May 1 to 3, the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) will hold its ninth annual International Conference and Workshops on Public Participation. The overall theme of the conference is “A New Millennium for Global Democracy.” The IAP2 2000 conference will show best practices of the world’s leading public participation practitioners. There are five major tracks: Bridging the Digital Divide; Public Participation in Worldwide Applications; Public Participation Across National and Cultural Boundaries; Public Participation in Creating Safe Communities and How Public Participation is helping to Shape Public Policy. EPA will showcase several initiatives: Alternative Dispute Resolution; Federal Advisory Committees; Children’s Environmental Health Protection; Virtual Earth Day (Internet conferencing); Public Participation for Environmental Results; Senior Citizens and Public Participation; and the Agency’s Sunwise program. The conference will be held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. For more information, see: www.iap2.org.
