PA TWO OKLAHOMA MEN CONVICTED TO HAZARDOUS WASTE AND DRUG VIOLATIONS

TWO OKLAHOMA MEN CONVICTED TO
HAZARDOUS WASTE AND DRUG VIOLATIONS

On Feb. 12, Carl Eugene Hines of Madill, Okla., and Daniel Robert Martin of Mill Creek, Okla., were convicted in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma in Muskogee on multiple charges relating to hazardous waste and drug violations. Both men face sentences of twenty years to life in federal prison. Hines was convicted of illegally transporting hazardous waste without a manifest and conspiracy to violate the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act; conspiring to manufacture, possess with intent to distribute and distribute methamphetamine; possession of a firearm after a felony conviction; possession of a firearm during drug trafficking crimes; and intimidating a federal witness. Martin was found guilty of causing the illegal transportation of hazardous waste without a manifest; illegally storing hazardous waste without a permit; conspiring to manufacture, possess with intent to distribute and distribute methamphetamine. Hines, owner of H&J Auto and Salvage in Madill, Okla., dumped twenty-three drums of hazardous materials from H&J in Mill Creek and seven drums were illegally disposed in Sulphur, Okla. The case was investigated by EPA’s Criminal Investigation Division, the FBI and the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality.
