U.S. EPA ADMINISTRATOR BROWNER TO JOIN CONGRESSMAN
FRELINGHUYSEN AND MAYOR BOLCAR IN BOONTON, N.J. TO ANNOUNCE
NEW FUNDING FOR PEPE FIELD SUPERFUND SITE

MEDIA ADVISORY

U.S. EPA Administrator Carol M. Browner will join Congressman Rodney
P. Frelinghuysen and Boonton Mayor Edward J. Bolcar, Jr. at the Pepe
Field Superfund site on Friday, Feb. 20, 1998 at 11:00 a.m. Browner
will announce significant new funding for the Pepe Field site, and detail
the impact of Clinton Administration Superfund reforms in cleaning up the
site faster, fairer and more efficiently.

Through a series of administrative actions, the Clinton
Administration has fundamentally improved the nation's toxic waste
cleanup program, accelerating the cleanup of toxic waste dumps and
significantly reducing the cost. The President proposed $2.1 billion in
his FY99 balanced budget to speed toxic waste cleanups in hundreds of
communities across the nation. Browner will describe the need for
Congressional action to clean up even more toxic waste sites and build on
the progress of the last five years.
