Combined Heat and Power Partnership

Welcome to EPA’s
Combined Heat and Power Partnership

Combined Heat and Power (CHP), or cogeneration, is the sequential production of power (electricity or shaft work) and thermal energy from a single fuel source. CHP is a more efficient, cleaner, and reliable alternative to conventional generation. The CHP Partnership is a voluntary program that seeks to reduce the environmental impact of power generation by fostering the use of CHP. The Partnership works closely with the CHP industry, state and local governments, and other stakeholders to develop tools and services to support the development of new projects and promote their energy, environmental, and economic benefits.
