33/50 PROGRAM SOLICITS COMMENTS

EPA is soliciting comments on its 33/50 program, a voluntary pollution reduction initiative for toxic chemicals created in January 1991. The program was created to reduce releases and transfers of 17 high priority toxics by 33 percent by 1992 and 50 percent by 1995. The 1992 program goal was met and the 1995 goal is expected to be achieved ahead of schedule. EPA would like to receive suggestions on the future of the 33/50 program from industry, environmental groups, citizens, states and other constituencies. Comments should be sent to: 33/50 Program (7408), 401 M St., S.W., Washington D.C. 20460, Attn: 33/50 - The Next Generation. Initial comments and suggestions are requested by Dec. 31, 1994. An announcement on the future of the program is scheduled for mid-1995.
