Leavitt to Sign Clean Air Nonroad Diesel RuleJohn Millett, 202-564-7842 / millett.john@epa.gov (Washington, D.C. – May 10, 2004) EPA Administrator Mike Leavitt will sign EPA’s Clean Air Nonroad Diesel Rule at a signing ceremony/press conference at EPA headquarters on Tuesday, May 11. He will also discuss EPA’s intention to propose new emission standards for diesel locomotives and marine diesel engines. The Nonroad Diesel Rule will steeply cut pollution from diesel engines used in construction, agriculture and other industries and require the removal of 99 percent of the sulfur in diesel fuel.
