The second floor of the house served as the living quarters of the Russian Orthodox bishop for more than 125 years. Bishop Innocent, the first occupant of the house, described the opulent furnishings and decor as an "ecclesiastical palace." Also located on the second floor, the magnificent Chapel of the Annunciation was the private worship place of the bishops.
