Remarks by Mrs. Bush at Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting

What a great time to be in New York City! The lights, the store windows, and this magnificent tree in Rockefeller Center are what all Americans think of when they think of Christmas and the holiday season.

As we remember the loved ones lost and reflect on the spirit and courage that New Yorkers have shown in abundance, let us be thankful for our families, our friends, and our great country.

Whether you're skating under this beautiful tree or taking in the lights and stars of Broadway, America loves New York.

Now more than ever I hope Americans will visit our great cities to celebrate the magic and wonder of the holiday season.

President Bush and I wish for all Americans a happy holiday season and a New Year filled with Peace.

The magic is back in the Big Apple and it's time to turn on the lights!
