EPA's Global Warming Site contains a wealth of materials that educators and outreach professionals can use in presentations and classroom activities on climate change science, potential impacts, and mitigation options.
This page provides a directory to some of the education and outreach resources that are available on the site.
Global Warming Kids Site: The kids page focuses on the science and impacts of global warming or climate change, and on actions that help address global warming issues. It is designed as a resource for both kids and educators. The site also features games, animations, events, and links to other relevant sites for kids and educators.
Climate Animations: Flash animations of Global Warming and Earth Processes intended for grades 5-9.
Online Greenhouse Gas Calculator: Use the calculator to obtain a rough estimate of your household's greenhouse gas emissions and explore actions you can take to reduce them.
Global Warming Wheel Card: A hand-held version of the online greenhouse gas calculator, perfect for use in the field, the classroom, or workshop presentations.
Global Warming Wheel Card Classroom Activity Kit: A tool to help teachers educate students in grades 6 through 8 about the causes and potential impacts of global warming. Centered around the hand-held wheel card that students use to estimate household carbon dioxide emissions, the kit encourages students to think about ways to reduce their personal, family, school, and community contributions to the greenhouse effect. To order the kit, email Scott.Karen@epa.gov or call (202) 343-9468. You may also call the National Service Center for Environmental Publications (800) 490-9198 and request the kit.
Outreach Materials: A one-stop source for EPA outreach material designed to inform the public about global warming.
Online Tools: Online calculators, database query tools, and case studies.
Links Database: This is a searchable database offering links to resources such as lesson plans, videos, books, and toolkits.
