Counting the S&E Workforce -- It's Not that Easy (May 3, 1999)

In addition to those employed in traditional S&E occupations, there are other professionals who regularly use their education in science and/or engineering in their jobs. This issue brief explores the difficulties encountered in estimating the size of the S&E workforce - and pegs the figure at between 6 and 8 million people.
