Toxic Waste River Rafting Game!

We all need to work hard to keep our earth as clean and safe as possible. Such efforts are important not only to "save the planet," but also to reduce the risks to human and animal life resulting from exposure to environmental health hazards. Keeping our waters clean and pure (and drinkable!) is very important. Take a tube ride down a "toxic waste" river and see how long you can avoid the hazards! After playing the game, why not learn more about becoming an environmental scientist yourself someday!

Playing Instructions

To start, first position the game so that you can see most of it in the middle of your window. Then point your mouse and click on the words "Press space bar to tube." Then press the space bar and the action begins! The arrow keys on your keyboard are used to move the tuber around. Note: In some Netscape versions you need to click on the applet before it will recognize the keys you press. In other Netscape versions, the arrow keys may not work, but you can still play by using the keys h,j,k, and l.) POINTS ARE AWARDED ONLY WHEN YOU KEEP THE TUBER ON THE LOWER HALF OF THE SCREEN. THE GAME STOPS WHEN YOU RUN INTO A TOXIC WASTE CAN.

Many thanks to Ed Snibble, for developing the applet for this game
and letting us share it with you through the NIEHS Kids' Pages!
