OSRE facilitates, coordinates, and evaluates the enforcement of EPA's national hazardous waste cleanup programs: CERCLA (Superfund), RCRA, OPA, and UST.

We support and provide the means for the regions and states to vigorously and effectively enforce these statutes and it is the skill and commitment of the people in OSRE that allows us to accomplish that mission. We are advocates for enforcement perspectives in national program policies and regulations. Our goals are to achieve prompt site cleanup and maximum liable party participation in performing and paying for cleanup in ways which promote environmental justice and fairness.

The Office of Site Remediation Enforcement has two divisions and a support office.

The Policy and Program Evaluation Division develops and implements enforcement policy, and performs program evaluation activities and strategic planning for all OSRE-administered statutes.

The Regional Support Division provides the primary point of contact for EPA Regional staff with respect to contemplated civil and adminstrative enforcement actions.

The Office also contains the Program Operations Staff which provides budget and administrative program support to OSRE.
