OSERS OSEP Monitoring

The Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) is responsible for ensuring States' compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). IDEA guarantees the free appropriate public education (FAPE) of children with disabilities in the least restrictive environment (LRE). To assist States in meeting the needs of students with disabilities, OSEP has developed a continuous improvement monitoring process.

  • Rank order State data
The following links will take you to State reported data tables for the IDEA Part B, Part 619 and Part C programs. These data tables are presented in a rank order format based on how far the State diverges from the national mean. In addition, State maps are included that are graphic representations of a portion of the rank ordered data. Questions regarding these data tables should be directed to Larry Wexler or (202) 205-5390.
