Receptor Models

The models offered in this area are observational techniques which make use of the ambient data and source profile data to apportion sources or source categories.  Guidance in their use may be found in Section 6.2.2 of the Guideline on Air Quality Models.

The models listed inthe area include; CMB7CMB8.

CMB7   (Chemical Mass Balance7 )  a source apportionment model based on an effective variance least squares regression, and is the principal technique to apportion ambient suspended particles nominally 10 microns or less in diameter as well as ambient lead among culpable sources.

CMB8  (Chemical Mass Balance8)   an interim step to update CMB7.  Cmb8 has features that represent enhancements over CMB7.  It is suggested that one consider using CMB8 for source apportionments that are suitable for CMB capabilities.
