Secretary Powell traveled to Mexico on November 8 to attend the Mexico Bi-National Commission meeting.

U.S. - Mexico Binational Commission LogoSecretary Powell and Mexican Foreign Secretary Luis Ernesto Derbez hosted the 21st meeting of the U.S.-Mexico Binational Commission in Mexico City on November 9, 2004. This meeting allowed U.S. and Mexican cabinet and agency chiefs to discuss the critical issues affecting our two nations, and to consider future plans. The U.S.-Mexico Binational Commission is held annually, alternating between Washington, D.C. and Mexico City.

In addition to Secretary Powell, six U.S. Government cabinet secretaries and agency heads joined with their Mexican counterparts to discuss foreign policy, homeland security, border cooperation, agricultural trade, immigration, and natural resources, among other topics. Secretary Derbez hosted a luncheon for all Binational Commission participants at the Mexican Foreign Ministry. [photo gallery]
