The National Business Center serves as the systems manager and general purpose computing host for the Department of the Interior's (DOI) department-wide administrative ADP systems supporting the functions of budget, procurement and contracts, personnel management, finance and accounting, E-Government, and other general administrative services. The NBC provides systems analysis, functional design, software development or acquisition, system implementation, user training, operations support, and software maintenance for administrative systems to bureaus in DOI and to other Federal agencies. The NBC also provides secure mainframe computer and telecommunications services necessary to host and operate administrative systems through its mainframe computing center in Denver, CO. Coordination with administrative organizations throughout the Department and with other Federal client agencies is accomplished through user groups and advisory boards.
The NBC has highly experienced staff knowledgeable of the functional and technical challenges of systems implementations and multiple operating platforms. One of the most significant challenges a client faces is the development of procedures to implement and operate a new system throughout their organization.
