Office of Research and Development
(ORD)
ORD focuses on the advancement of basic peer-reviewed scientific research
and the implementation of cost-effective, common sense technology. Fundamental
to ORD's mission is a partnership with the academic scientific community,
through extramural research grants and fellowships.
Environmental Monitoring and Assessment
Program (EMAP)
EMAP is a research program to develop the tools necessary to monitor and
assess the status and trends of national ecological resources.
Great Lakes National Program Office
- Lake Michigan Mass Balance
Study
This 1994-1999 study, when concluded, will outline the fate of toxic chemicals
in Lake Michigan and the complexities of managing one aspect of a large-scale
ecosystem.
Microbiology Home Page
Access to microbiology-related information that has been developed or
managed by the Agency. This Web site is maintained by the Human Exposure
Research Division of the National Exposure Research Laboratory (NERL).
National Center for Environmental
Assessment (NCEA)
This site serves as the national resource center for the overall process
of human health and ecological risk assessments; the integration of hazard,
dose-response , and exposure data and models to produce risk characterizations.
National
Center for Environmental Economics (NCEE)
NCEE analyzes relationships between the economy, environmental health,
and environmental pollution control. NCEE also serves as a central point
of contact for communicating and resolving cross-cutting technical economic
issues.
National Center for Environmental
Research (NCER)
This site has been designed to give investigators easy access to research
funding opportunities and past and present research projects and programs.
A future goal is to fully automate application procedures through this
site.
National Environmental
Scientific Computing Center (NESC2)
The NESC houses EPA's first supercomputer which provides High Performance
Computing and Communications (HPCC) resources necessary to support environmental
research of global proportions, improved science for the development of
regulations, and educational programs for the environmental and computational
sciences.
Office of Science and Technology (OST)
Office of Water
OST is responsible for developing sound, scientifically defensible standards,
criteria, advisories, guidelines, limitations and standards under the
Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act.
