About Ambassador Scott H. DeLisi
Prior to his appointment as U.S. Ambassador to Eritrea, Scott H. DeLisi was the Director for Southern African Affairs.
Mr. Scott H. DeLisi is a career Foreign Service Officer who joined the Foreign Service in 1981. He has been assigned in Bombay, India as vice-consul; Antananarivo, Madagascar as economic/commercial officer; and Islamabad, Pakistan as political officer. In Colombo, Sri Lanka, Mr. DeLisi served as chief of the political section. He has also held positions in Washington in the Bureau for South Asian Affairs and in the Bureau for Intelligence and Research.
Most recently, Mr. DeLisi served as Deputy Chief of Mission in Gaborone, Botswana from 1997-2001. He became the Office Director for Southern African Affairs in August of 2001. He was promoted to the Senior Foreign Service, rank of Counselor in October 2000. (complete text)

PAS Asmara Launched the Second American Corner in Eritrea The second American Corner was opened in Massawa, Northern Red Sea of Eritrea, on October 7, 2004. Massawa is located some 105 kilometers outside the capital. Both Ambassador DeLisi and the Administrator of Massawa, Mr. Tesfay Zeree, inaugurated the new American Corner at the ceremony attended by the province’s governor, local officials, religious and community leaders.(complete text)
USS Hopper Visits Masawa, Eritrea ABOARD USS HOPPER, At Sea (NNS) -- USS Hopper (DDG 70) had the rare opportunity to visit the East African nation of Eritrea Oct. 7-9 while deployed to the U.SS. 5th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR), becoming the first U.S. Navy ship to have a port of call in Masawa, Eritrea, since 1997.(complete text)
U.S. Embassy Grants 1.2 Million Nakfa to Local Communities Asmara, September 3, 2004 – U.S. Ambassador to Eritrea Scott H. DeLisi and local community leaders signed agreements to fund ten projects by grants from the United States Government for a total amount of $90, 750 (1,229,663 Nakfa). With these grants, total U.S. assistance to Eritrea in 2004 exceeds $60 million (814,355,000 Nakfa) including food aid.(complete text)
Eritrea Signs Article 98 Agreement The Undersecretary for Arms Control and International Security, John R.
