How do I apply for a federal job?

Do you have federal employment status?

YES BLM has current vacancies listed on the Internet at http://www.usajobs.opm.gov.
NO Without federal employment status, you cannot apply directly to our BLM office unless you qualify under a special hiring authority (VRA, handicap, Peace Corps, etc.). Applicants lacking federal employment status must apply through the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). Specific job vacancies are listed at http://www.usajobs.opm.gov.

What are the student program possibilities?

The Student Educational Employment Program (SEEP) covers the following: (1) graduate or professional degree, (2)baccalaureate degree, (3) associate degree, (4) undergraduate certificate or diploma, and (5)high school diploma; all of which the BLM uses in its recruitment efforts. Under the SEEP, there are two different types of programs:
  1. The Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) is a progressive educational program that provides for the integration of a student's academic studies and Federal work experience with the potential of noncompetitive conversion to a permanent position in the Federal service. The following apply:

  2. The Student Temporary Employment Program (STEP) is designed to integrate classroom study with paid work experience in the area of study. This program is conducted in accordance with a planned schedule and a working agreement between the BLM and the educational institution. The following apply:
