Pledge Your Support to Florida's Public Lands

For the first time in history, four major hurricanes landed on Florida's shores in just six weeks. Floridians have demonstrated indomitable strength and humanitarian spirit as they help their neighbors across the street - and across the state - to rebuild and recover. Along with damage to residents' homes, businesses and properties, Florida's treasured public lands were also affected by the storms.

To assist with hurricane restoration on Florida's local, state, and federal public lands, waters, and beaches Florida Governor Jeb Bush will launch Take Pride in Florida on National Make A Difference Day, October 23, 2004.

Governor Bush also will announce a volunteer pledge drive to solicit volunteer help for projects on affected areas throughout Florida.

You are invited to make a pledge of volunteer hours to work on public land projects in Florida. This pledge may include your usual annual volunteer service hours along with an increase to help support the hurricane recovery effort. Please complete an individual pledge card or, if the company or organization for whom you’re associated would like to get involved, fill in a group pledge card and fax it to (850) 245-3091. If we receive your pledge before October 21, it will be included in the announcement of pledge hours on October 23. You can also pick up pledge cards at any Florida State Park.

If you have any questions on this exciting initiative, visit Take Pride in Florida or contact Deputy Florida Take Pride in America Coordinator Phillip Werndli at (850) 245-3098.

Thanks for your support!
