AUDITS OF THE OFFICE OF PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT:

The Inspector General is responsible for conducting a wide range of audit activity covering OPM programs and administrative operations.  This activity includes such diverse areas as financial statement audits required by the Chief Financial Officers Act (CFO Act); President's Council on Integrity and Efficiency governmentwide audits; audits of agency compliance with laws and regulations, such as the Prompt Payment Act and Federal Manager's Financial Integrity Act; and performance audits of OPM programs that involve the range of the agency's responsibilities for retirement, employee development, and personnel management activities.

AUDITS OF OPM CONTRACTORS:

The Inspector General is also responsible for auditing the activities of Office of Personnel Management contracts with private sector firms who underwrite and provide health and life insurance benefits to federal employees, annuitants and their dependents and survivors through the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program and the Federal Employees' Group Life Insurance Program.   The Inspector General also audits local organizations who administer the Combined Federal Campaigns and OPM contracts for goods and services.
