Welcome. As a multiple-use agency, the Bureau
of Land Management (BLM) manages 262 million acres of public lands
in the West. Due to the diverse demands placed on these lands and
BLM’s limited resources, it is paramount for the Bureau to
work in partnership with federal, state, and local governments,
and other interested parties to help insure stewardship of our Nation’s
vast resources.
The following series of Questions and Answers (Q & A) represents
some of the best information available to help remove barriers that
face both BLM and its Partners, when creating new partnerships.These
Q & A s are the result of the hard work completed at the BLM
hosted Partnership Workshop held in the spring of 2002, in Las Vegas
Nevada. At this workshop, BLM and many BLM Partner subject matter
experts worked together to:
- identify common barriers to building lasting partnerships;
- describe what good partnerships need, and;
- identify what tools are essential to building and maintaining
productive partnerships.
In order to apply the Workshop recommendations, the BLM’s
National Landscape Conservation System (NLCS) created a National
Partnership Task Force to address the workshop findings. The following
set of Q&As were developed by this Task Force to assist you
with your developing partnerships.
