Welcome to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) National Planning Web Site. On this site, you will find information pertaining to land use planning activities on 262 million acres of surface lands and 700 million acres of mineral estate. BLM’s 162 resource management plans form the basis for every action and approved use on public lands. Planning emphasizes a collaborative environment, in which local, State, and Tribal governments, the public, local user groups, and industry work with the BLM to identify appropriate multiple uses of the public lands.

The mission of the BLM Planning, Assessment, and Community Support Group is to provide national leadership and direction and to secure the resources, science, and data to develop policy, guidance, and tools, which in turn enable BLM Field Offices to produce and implement collaborative and sustainable land use plans and all NEPA compliance documents. The products of the staff are critical to meeting Congressional direction to revise and update the BLM's land use plans that are fundamental to the long-term use and enjoyment of the public lands.

It is the mission of the Bureau of Land Management to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
